Steven Foster hits walk-off, two-run single to rally Sachem North past Lindenhurst
Steven Foster hit a walk-off two- run single, capping a four-run rally, as Sachem North defeated Lindenhurst, 7-6, in League II Monday. Scott Barany hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to give Lindenhurst a 6-3 lead. James Griffith had an RBI single in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-4 and Bobby Barber was then hit by a pitch to force in another run. Rob Sciarrotta went 2-for-4 for Sachem North (8-2).
Half Hollow Hills West 3, Hauppauge 2: With the tying run on second, Nick Lombardi fielded a single to center and threw the runner out at home for the final out to lift Hills West (4-0) in League IV. Matt Feinstein went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Aaron Glickstein allowed two runs, seven hits and a walk, striking out seven. Richie Mannarino had three hits for Hauppauge, including the single that set up the game-ending play.
Calhoun 7, Great Neck South 0: Colin Lowe struck out 14 and walked none in a one-hitter to lead Calhoun (1-3) in League AA-III. Chris Melito went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs and Luke Scoggins went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI.
Plainedge 5, Manhasset 4: Gianfranco Soriente hit an RBI double in the eighth to lead Plainedge (8-2) in League A-II. John Danielo went 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple and pitched a complete game for Plainedge. Alex Anderson hit a two-run homer in the sixth to tie the game at 4 for Manhasset.
Syosset 11, Farmingdale 6: Skyler Graff singled in the go-ahead run to break a tie at 6 in the seventh inning and lead Syosset (3-1) in League AA-I. Jake Mitchnick went 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Syosset.
Roosevelt 12, Hempstead 2: Danis Rodriguez and Marc Villeda combined to throw a no-hitter for Roosevelt (3-4) in Countywide. Villeda started and threw two innings, striking out five. Rodriguez threw five innings and struck out seven and earned the win. Darween Canela went 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
SOFTBALLEastport-South Manor 1, Bellport 0: Marissa Rizzi tossed a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Eastport-South Manor (7-2) in League III. Rizzi, a sophomore, walked just two batters. Kailah Konkel scored the go-ahead run on an error in the fourth inning.
Great Neck South 12, Freeport 11: Kristen Renta hit a two-run, walk- off double to lead Great Neck South (4-3) in Conference AA-IV. Renta went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and Dylan Livers and Amanda Zeitlin both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Great Neck South.
Seaford 8, Garden City 0: Erin Russell hit for the cycle, had four RBIs, and two runs in non-league. Russell's two-run home run in the fourth gave Seaford a 6-0 lead. Sophie Dandola threw a three-hit shutout, striking out nine for Seaford (5-5).
Floral Park 2, Clarke 1: Jenn Sullivan's ninth-inning RBI single drove in Riley Anderson to lead Floral Park (6-3) in a Conference AB-I/AB-II crossover. Anderson's RBI single in the fourth tied the game at 1. Alanna Namit struck out seven and scattered five hits in nine innings. Clarke's Sarah Cornell struck out 17 in nine innings.
GIRLS LACROSSEWard Melville 13, East Islip 12: Kelsey Catalano scored six goals, including the tying goal in overtime and the winner with 2:46 left to lead Ward Melville (5-2) in Division I. Carlee Ancana had five goals for East Islip, including the tying goal with 11 seconds left in regulation. St. John the Baptist 15, Plainedge 7: Kaitlyn Montalbano had nine goals and two assists to lead SJB (3-4) in non-league.BOYS LACROSSEHoly Trinity 4, St. Dominic 3: Kevin Vogelsberg scored the winner off an assist from Matt Waldhoff with 1:10 remaining to lead Holy Trinity (1-4) in CHSAA.
