Stop & frisk policy suffers blow after judge ruling

The next court date on the issue is set for Jan. 31.
A judge has ordered the NYPD to temporarily halt Operation Clean Hall, which allowed police officers to go into certain buildings and stop-and-frisk whoever they'd like.
The judge stated it is simply not enough for a police officer to have a so-called hunch about a person to perform a search.
The stop-and-frisk policy has caused controversy since it was first introduced by the NYPD. In March, a lawsuit over the policy was filed by citizens and the New York Civil Liberties Union.
The next court date on the issue is set for Jan. 31.
