HEMPSTEAD
  Budget hearings. The Hempstead Town board will hold budget hearings Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, 1 Washington St.,  adjacent to Hempstead Town Hall. The proposed $414.8-million budget is a 2.9 percent increase over the current year and calls for  freezing town taxes. Check Aisha Al-Muslim’s Twitter updates @AishaAlMuslim.

RIVERHEAD
  Bond vote. The Riverhead school district will hold a referendum Tuesday on a $78.3 million bond for renovation work at the district’s seven schools. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. See Mitchell Freedman’s updates at newsday.com.

HUNTINGTON
  Budget hearing. The Huntington Town board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall, 100 Main St., for a public hearing on the proposed budget for 2012.
