Freeport
Water works. The Freeport Landmarks Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Freeport Village Hall, 46 N. Ocean Ave., on the proposed redevelopment plan for the historic site of the former Brooklyn Water Works. The design from developer Gary Melius calls for a six-floor, 121-unit apartment complex with parking for 200 cars at 25-01 Brookside Ave., adjacent to the Long Island Rail Road. Shelter Island
Term lengths. The Shelter Island town board meets at 4:30 p.m. Friday in t Town Hall, 38 N. Ferry Rd. On the agenda is a public hearing on a proposal to make every town board member run for office every two years.
