Board Session: The Southampton Town board will hold a work session today at 12:30 p.m. at Town Hall (116 Hampton Rd., Southampton), at which the town comptroller will present an analysis of vacant staff positions before Tuesday’s regular town board meeting. Barbecue Battle: Forty teams will compete in the fifth Battle of the BBQ Brethren, Long Island’s pre-eminent barbecue competition, tomorrow and Sunday at The Maples (10 Ryerson Ave., Manorville). Competition begins at 10 a.m. both days. At stake: $10,000 in prize money and an invitation to the American Royal World Series of Barbecue. Check for updates at newsday.com.
