Uniondale
LIPA Trustees: The board of trustees of the Long Island Power Authority will hold a special meeting, open to the public, today at 10 a.m. at the Omni Conference Center (333 Earle Ovington Blvd., Uniondale). Kings Park
Yo-Yo Record: The anti-drug group Kings Park in the kNOw will try to break the world yo-yo record as part of a fundraiser. The event, which the group hopes will draw 2,500 yo-yoers, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kings Park High School (200 Rte. 25A). Check Nicholas Spangler’s updates at newsday.com.
Smithtown
Busing Vote: Smithtown School District residents will vote Monday on a referendum to overturn a May vote and restore last year's transportation policy, which allowed all but 700 of the district's 11,467 students to take the bus to school.
