Sand miners tribute: A ceremony to mark the inauguration of Sand Miners Monument Park will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the monument, south of the entrance to Harbor Links Golf Course, 1 W. Fairway Dr. The monument, which honors the men and women who worked the mines from 1865 to 1989, emerges from one of the last mining tunnels still visible. Check staff updates at newsday.com.
