A male was rescued by firefighters early Tuesday morning after a fire broke out in his Hempstead home. The house on Alicia Court was engulfed in flames when emergency units arrived at about 4:30 a.m. Firefighters quickly began to search the home for residents and shortly after found the lone occupant of the house in a room on the first floor. Paramedics immediately attended to the man on the front lawn of the home and he was transported to Nassau University Medical Center. (Jan. 24, 2012) Credit: Lou Minutoli
A 71-year-old Hempstead man was hospitalized early Tuesday, suffering from minor burns and smoke inhalation, after being pulled by firefighters from a burning home, Hempstead police said. -- JOHN VALENTI
