The Town of Islip on Tuesday recognized Evelyn Blose Holman, superintendent of the Bay Shore school district for the past 17 years, by renaming a street in her honor.

Holman has made “numerous contributions to our community,” Supervisor Phil Nolan said in a statement.

A sign reading “Holman Way” will be added on top of the existing sign for Perkal Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues in Bay Shore, next to the district’s high school.

Holman, who was hired as superintendent in 1994, recently launched the Evelyn Blose Holman Education Foundation to provide financial assistance for students residing in Bay Shore and attending schools in the district.

She has received many honors, including New York Woman of the Year from the State Senate and three times being named one of the Top One Hundred Educational Executives in North America.
