Long Island commuters may be harboring bleak thoughts of the coming week, but meteorologically, at least, the outlook is sunny.
Sunday, the second day of the LIRR strike, will be clear and warm, with a high of 80, according to the National Weather Service.
The temperature will drop to a cool 60 Sunday night, and forecasters predict clear skies and generally pleasant weather for the following days as well. The high Monday will be 75, possibly somewhat easing the discomforts of a longer, more crowded work commute.
Tuesday’s high will be in the upper 70s, and Wednesday’s in the low 80s.
Clear skies are expected through Wednesday afternoon, when showers are likely to arrive after 2 p.m. The showers will bring a cooler day Thursday, with a high around 69 and a nighttime low of 52.
