Sitting on a bench at the Ronkonkoma LIRR station Monday evening, Stephen Griffen was resting after a day of work cleaning pools before riding his bicycle home to Bay Shore.

Griffen normally relies on the train and told Newsday he was more than pleased to learn the strike had ended.

“I literally slept at the station Friday night just so I could make sure that I made it to work the next morning,” said Griffen, 34. “This morning I ended up having to cycle 12 miles to get to work.”
