Traffic is moving well on Long Island, with the exception of slow patches in western Nassau County on the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway.

Of course, it gets worse across the city line.

You can see real-time information below, measuring average commute times to Penn Station.

Earlier Monday, Penny Vikos of Farmingdale was one of the drivers in traffic on the LIE. She told Newsday that she chose to make the drive to Northwell Health on Monday morning, despite having the option to work from home during the LIRR.

Vikos, a senior executive assistant in the neurosurgery department, was headed to Great Neck when Newsday spoke with her along the LIE near Exit 39 at Glen Cove Road.

She said she was concerned about the commute, but the trip had been smoother than expected.

“Yes, but it turned out not to be too bad, except for the accident up ahead,” Vikos said.

Her bigger concern was the trip home.

“That’s always questionable,” she said. “It’s usually the same for me, about an hour to an hour and a half to get home.”
