Families from the Sts. Cyril and Methodius School in Deer Park will collect food to benefit the Babylon Town food pantry on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stop&Shop, 421 Commack Rd. in Deer Park.

Kara Kenna, a school board member whose son attends the school, said the families organized the drive after town officials appealed to the public last month for donations.

“It’s possible we have parishioners who might go to the pantry,” she said. “It’s to give back to the town as well.”

Supplies at the pantry, which provides food for hungry residents, are critically low, town officials told Newsday last week.

A variety of items such as dry and canned foods, cereal and juices will be accepted Sunday.
