Suffolk runners will have to wait another day to book their tickets to next weekend's state meet in Queensbury.
Due to inclement weather, the Suffolk State Qualifying Meet originally scheduled for Friday was moved to Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sunken Meadow State Park. The meet will run three races for both boys and girls, one for Class A, Class B, and Class C/D.
The Friday cancellation means that all Long Island public school runners will be competing for a trip to states at the same time. Nassau will hold its state qualifying meet on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bethpage State Park. This meet will run one large race to determine an individual county champion and a team champion, according to the Nassau Cross Country Guide.
The state meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9 at Queensbury High School. First race goes off at 9 am.
