Suffolk police community meetings for 2011
The Suffolk County Police Department has released a list of community meetings its precincts have planned for 2011.
Each Suffolk precinct holds a monthly community meeting to encourage communication and transparency between the department and the residents it serves, according to a Police Department spokesman.
Meetings typically last between one and two hours and are attended by precinct commanders as a forum to provide and receive information from the community, the spokesman said.
The meetings are open to the public and a question-and-answer session follows reports by police department personnel.
Topics typically include crime reports and prevention, neighborhood watch and programs being run by the precinct.
