West Islip’s winning streak is now at 36 straight after the Lions rallied in the second half to defeat East Islip, 11-7. West Islip is 15-0 this season and should earn the top seed in the Class A playoffs as it chases its third straight state title. The only other unbeaten team on Long Island remains Comsewogue at 13-0 in Division II (Class B). Smithtown West, after one-goal OT losses to Ward Melville and West Islip, survived a one-goal thriller in beating Connetquot, 6-5. The game featured two of Long Island's top players -- James Pannell (32) and Mike Pellegrino (7), pictured above.

Two of Suffolk’s better players remain sidelined with concussions – Kyle Keenan of Smithtown West and Charlie Raffa of St. Anthony’s. Both have been out two weeks and expect to be back next week, in time for the playoffs.
