Tuesday’s weather forecast for Long Island is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the low 40s and calm winds.

Tuesday night is expected to be clear and cold with temperatures in the upper 20s.

The record high for March 8 is 72 degrees set in 1987. The record low was in 1986 with temperatures dipping to 14 degrees.

And while the skies will remain sunny Wednesday morning, clouds will increase and it will turn breezy later in the day. This is a precursor to our next rainstorm on Thursday.

1717: On Fishers Island in Long Island Sound, 1,200 sheep were discovered to have been buried under a snow drift for four weeks. When finally uncovered, 100 sheep were still alive.
