Super Bowl 50 was watched by an average of 111.9 million people Sunday on CBS, down from the record 114.4 million for last year’s game and 112.2 million for Super Bowl XVIII at MetLife Stadium in 2014.
Still, the figure is the third-highest average audience on record for an American television show.
By another measure, the game attracted 46.6 percent of homes nationally, a massive figure by any definition but down from 47.5 for last year’s game on NBC.
New York ranked 50th among the 56 markets measured with an average of 45.4 percent of homes tuned in. The home cities of the teams involved ranked eighth (Charlotte, 55.9) and 13th (Denver, 53.9).
No. 1? Nashville, at 57.7. Miami ranked last at 38.1 percent of homes.
