Super Bowl ticket prices on the resale market typically fall as the game draws nearer, but as of late Friday the average list price was $5,049, up 26 percent compared to 48 hours earlier, according to TicketIQ.com, which monitors a number of secondary market sites.

The lowest asking price for Super Bowl LI late Friday was $2,850, up 21 percent compared to 48 hours earlier.

Part of what has driven the rise in prices is relatively low inventory for the game between the Patriots and Falcons in Houston. As of late Friday there were 1,980 tickets available, down 56 percent compared to last year at the same time.

Historically, ticket prices tend to drop on game day itself as sellers seek to unload what is left in their inventory.

TicketIQ said 31 percent of visitors to its Super Bowl page have come from Georgia, 17 percent from Massachusetts, 16 percent from Texas and 9 percent from New York.
