Project Independence is branching out into radio.

Every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, a “Project Independence and You” segment will air on WCWP/ 88.1 FM, the station broadcast from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.

Project Independence, a Town of North Hempstead initiative, provides support services and programs to residents 55 and over so they can live at home as they age.

The program offers health screenings, social outings, taxi rides for medical appointments, caregiver support, benefits assistance and other services.

Each week, the radio show will cover a number of topics designed to help residents. Health care news and information about transportation will also be discussed. The first show aired last week.

The program also will be available on the Project Independence website at www. tonhprojectindepedence.net.
