Suspect arraigned in UNH student's killing
DOVER, N.H. -- An actor and martial arts instructor was arraigned via video feed Monday in the killing of a University of New Hampshire student.
Seth Mazzaglia, of Dover, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, 19. He is accused of strangling or suffocating her in his apartment last Tuesday, though no body has been found.
The search for her body has been focused on Peirce Island in nearby Portsmouth.
Mazzaglia, 29, didn't speak during the brief video arraignment. His court-appointed attorneys didn't object to the prosecutor's no-bail request.
Marriott, of Westborough, Mass., was living with an aunt in Chester, N.H., and commuting to the university in Durham. She had made plans Oct. 9 to visit friends in Dover after a class, but did not show up. Her car was found several miles away in a campus parking lot.
Police have not said what led them to arrest Mazzaglia, a 2006 graduate of the university with a degree in theater. -- AP
