Swearing-in ceremonies on LI

County legislators, town supervisors, board members and other municipal officials elected in November will be sworn in for their new terms in the coming days. Here is a schedule of town and city swearing-in ceremonies:
Babylon: Tuesday, Jan. 3, before the town board’s scheduled 3:30 p.m. meeting at Town Hall (200 E. Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst). During the meeting, the board will vote on appointing Rich Schaffer as supervisor; should he be appointed, he would be sworn in immediately.
Brookhaven: Thursday, Jan. 5, at 5 p.m. at Town Hall (1 Independence Hill, Farmingville), during the town’s organizational meeting.
East Hampton: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. at Town Hall (159 Pantigo Rd.), followed by its first work session of the year at 11 a.m.
Glen Cove: Monday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. in the main chambers of City Hall (9 Glen St.).
Hempstead: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. in the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion (adjacent to Hempstead Town Hall, One Washington St., Hempstead).
Huntington: Sunday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. at Harborfields High School (98 Taylor Ave., Greenlawn).
Islip: Monday, Jan. 2, at noon at Connetquot High School (190 Seventh St., Bohemia).
Long Beach: Sunday, Jan. 1, at noon at Long Beach City Hall (1 West Chester St.). New city manager Jack Schnirman will be sworn in Tuesday, Jan. 3 at an 8:30 a.m. City Council meeting.
Nassau County Legislature: Monday, Jan. 2, at 10 a.m. in the legislature’s chambers in the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building (1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola).
North Hempstead: Monday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. at Clinton G. Martin Park (1601 Marcus Ave., New Hyde Park).
Oyster Bay: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at Town Hall East (54 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay).
Riverhead: Sunday, Jan. 1, at 1 p.m. in the Hyatt Place Long Island/East End hotel ballroom (451 East Main St.).
Shelter Island: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. in Town Hall (38 North Ferry Rd.).
Smithtown: Elected officials, already sworn in, will be appointed Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at the organizational meeting in Town Hall (99 W. Main St.).
Southampton: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. in Town Hall (116 Hampton Rd.).
Southold: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. at Town Hall (53095 Route 25), followed by the regularly scheduled Town Board meeting.
Suffolk County Executive: Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. in the Van Nostrand Theater on Suffolk County Community College’s Grant campus (Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood).
Suffolk County Legislature: Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m., during the organizational meeting in the William H. Rogers Legislature Building (725 Veterans Memorial Hwy., Hauppauge).
