There is a concierge desk, where you can order food or have your dry cleaning picked up, Austrian-style chandeliers, coffee, tea, some snacks, and a computer/TV in every room.

In case you didn't notice, you're in Dr. Eric Weinstein's dental office, called Shine Dental Associates of the North Shore, on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset.

“It gives the feeling of being in a hotel,“ Weinstein said of the office he opened about six months ago. Dental officials have been modernizing and upgrading for years, with an eye toward patient comfort and surroundings that are, well, un-dental.

Each of the seven treatment rooms is equipped with a computer/television set. Amado Viar of Hicksville sat in one of the rooms. He works at Gabby's bagel shop next to Shine. The decor took him a bit by surprise, he said. “It's very impressive,“ Viar said.

Weinstein said all of the fancy trappings do not add to a patients' cost. “Just because the decor is upscale doesn't mean the cost is,“ Weinstein said.
