Christmastime has been tough for many of TV's working-class heroes. Take these five:
Fred Flintstone, "The Flintstones" (1964) - To get more money for gifts, Fred takes a job at Macyrock.
Archie Bunker, "All in the Family" (1971) - Archie is depressed when his boss cancels his holiday bonus (because Archie allegedly messed up a work order) and he doesn't know how to break the news to his family.
Homer Simpson, "The Simpsons" (1989) - Homer doesn't get a Christmas bonus, so he becomes a mall Santa Claus to earn extra money.
Al Bundy, "Married . . . With Children" (1992) - Al takes a second job as a mall Santa.
Doug Heffernan, "The King of Queens" (1999) - Doug receives a $3,000 Christmas bonus and Carrie wants to invest it in a new Internet stock. The stock immediately gains but then loses and cuts the bonus value in half.
