Billy Joel will never be an afterthought on Long Island, but recently he's been an especially hot topic.

There was the short-notice benefit show at the Paramount in Huntington last month, followed by news that he will receive a Kennedy Center honor next month in Washington, D.C.

He's now scheduled a Madison Square Garden date for each of the first four months of 2014.

Joel has left his mark on LI for so many reasons it's hard to keep up. To make things easier the Newsday entertainment staff put together a map of places in Nassau and Suffolk that are especially significant to his life and career. Check it out at http://bit.ly/1jvAxp6.
