Taxes shouldn't pay for cliff storm repairs

Regarding "Battling beach erosion" [News, Jan. 5]: No government money should be spent to repair cliffs or houses on cliffs. If someone has the good fortune to have a home on such a beautiful but dangerous location, that someone should factor in the cost of repairing the damage.
Living on a barrier island in good times is beautiful; in bad times, that is too bad. Buyers took the risk. There's no reason why taxpayers should share in that.
