'Team Murray' kicks off Hempstead campaign

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and her “Team Murray” slate of Republican town officials are kicking off their 2011 election campaign.
"Team Murray" consists of Murray, Councilwoman Angie Cullin, Councilman James Darcy, Councilman Ed Ambrosino, Town Clerk Mark Bonilla and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin.
Their campaign will emphasize their commitment to freeze town taxes and protect the quality of life within the town, they said.
The candidates cited the administration’s accomplishments: the town’s high credit ratings, which have reduced debt service by $2.4 million in the 2011 budget; a 6 percent reduction in the town’s workforce over the past decade; a $50 million capital upgrade program that is repairing and upgrading infrastructure; and programs that have built affordable homes, revitalized downtowns, rebuilt parks, expanded recycling initiatives and invested in alternative energy.
“I am proud to be part of a team that is holding the line on taxes in 2012, while offering a full complement of life-enhancing services for residents and protecting our quality of life,” Murray said in a statement.
