Temporary workers needed for Sandy-related jobs
Unemployed workers have an opportunity to gain temporary Sandy-related employment thanks to a grant awarded to the state and Suffolk County departments of labor.
The grant is provided by the U.S. Department of Labor to hire temporary workers to assist in recovery from damage caused by Sandy.
Workers might be eligible if their employment was lost temporarily or permanently because of the storm, or if they are unemployed or dislocated.
Duties might include debris removal, roadway clearing, buildings and grounds cleanup, and other projects as required.
The hourly rate is $14.89 for a 35-hour workweek. Employment can last up to 12 weeks.
To apply, call 631-853-6600, or visit the One-Stop Employment Center in Hauppauge at the Suffolk County Department of Labor, 725 Veterans Memorial Hwy. Bring two forms of identification.
