Terrorism hearings should go forward

Rep. Peter King Credit: Charles Eckert
Regarding "Muslim hearings are wrongheaded" [Letters, Feb. 13], Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) has not accused anyone of anything. The Homeland Security Committee, which he heads, is going to hold hearings on a question that many Americans need answered. Namely, the question of whether homegrown Islamic terrorists pose a threat to the safety and security of Americans and the United States.
Though politically incorrect, the reality is that a long list of terrorist acts, in the name of Islam, has taken place in recent years within and outside the United States. In fact, Rep. King would be remiss in his duties as head of that committee if he ignored that potential threat.
