Coleman cuts deal in assault case

Former child television star Gary Coleman has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge related to a domestic violence incident last April in Utah, The Associated Press reports. In a deal with the prosecutor, Coleman entered the plea at a hearing Monday, his 42nd birthday, in Santaquin, 65 miles south of Salt Lake City. Court clerk Jane Swan says the original charge of domestic violence assault was dropped. Judge Sharla Williams sentenced Coleman to 31 1/2 days in jail.

Cyrus leads celeb auction to help Haiti

Miley Cyrus has organized an online auction to benefit the relief effort in Haiti, and Britney Spears, Hugh Jackman, Ellen DeGeneres, Julianne Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, Demi Lovato and others will donate items and experiences, The Associated Press reports. Cyrus is donating several items, including the Herve Leger dress she wore to the 2010 Grammy Awards. Fans can also bid on Spears' 2008 MTV Video Music Awards dress, a set visit to Jackman's new film, Lovato's tour wardrobe and other items. The auction runs until 10 p.m. on Feb. 18. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross.

Gosselin's third book hits shelves in April

Kate Gosselin is scheduled to release her third book, "I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family," on April 13, People.com reports. The personal book will feature prayers, excerpts from her journal and eight individual letters addressed to each one of her children.
