The Cuomo Watch
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo drew high exposure Thursday with back-to-back ceremonial signings of the new property-tax cap legislation. First, he signed at the home of James and Janet Gannon in Lynbrook; then, in Pleasantville, at the home of Russell and Tara Klein. Both ceremonies featured cordial exchanges with the Republican county executives -- Edward Mangano in Nassau and Rob Astorino in Westchester.
The same day, Cuomo unveiled his move to allow for drilling of natural gas deposits, but with the New York City watershed off-limits. On Friday, the low-exposure cusp of the Independence weekend, his office revealed party officials, in effect, will nominate candidates for the 9th Congressional District seat held by Anthony Weiner -- not primary voters, as good-government groups urged.
