Will Christopher Ward be the next authority leader out the door?

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo pointedly declined to give Ward, the executive director of the Port Authority, a vote of confidence amid wrangling over proposed toll increases on the Hudson River crossings.

Several authority heads have rolled since Cuomo took office. Departures included Curtis Stiles (Adirondack Park Agency), Richard Kessel (New York Power Authority), Michael Fleischer (Thruway Authority) and Jay Walder (MTA). Only Walder announced a new job as he left.

Ward has won praise for jumpstarting Ground Zero development and for working well with real estate interests and transit activists. He was appointed by ex-Gov. David A. Paterson.
