All this week, News 12's gadget guru Andrew Ehinger has been checking out the hottest tech gifts for the holidays.&nbsp; 
In the last installment of <a href="http://longisland.news12.com/features/holidays/the-download-hot-for-the-holidays-1.11062778">The Download: Hot for the Holidays</a> segment, he looked at the DJI Osmo. 
The DJI Osmo is the next evolution of the action camera - it brings with it professional cinema quality stabilization making shaky videos a thing of the past. 
The Osmo is a motorized gimbaled camera similar to ones found on movie or television sets. But this one fits in the palm of your hand. It uses a smartphone as a wireless display, which also gives the user full control over the camera's settings and makes for easy uploads to the net.&nbsp; 
DJI is also the world's most popular drone maker. The Osmo's camera is similar to ones found in DJI's quadcopters - so it knows how to absorb unwanted shakes. 
It's not waterproof like most action cameras, but it's still small enough to take places you normally wouldn't bring a larger camera.&nbsp; 
The DJI Osmo is $650, and the company offers many accessories like tripods and mounts as well.

Tech gifts are certainly popular for the holidays, but with all the choices out there, how do you figure out what's the best? News 12's tech reporter Andrew Ehinger has a few suggestions in his annual series - <a href="http://longisland.news12.com/features/holidays/the-download-hot-for-the-holidays-1.11062778">The Download: Hot for the Holidays</a>. 
Suggestion number four is the Swagway electric skateboard.&nbsp; 
The self-balancing two-wheeled boards take a little time to get the hang of, but can be lots of fun. And even though some communities are trying to figure out how to regulate their use - in certain places they can be a blast. The Swagway ranges between $350 and $400. 
Lots of people wear activity trackers to monitor their health, but how about one for your pet? The Whistle is a tiny clip-on fitness tracker for your four-legged friend.&nbsp; 
The Whistle can also help you find your pet if it wanders off. It has a built-in GPS and will alert your smartphone when your pet leaves a preset area - all in real time. It costs $99 with a small monthly monitoring fee. 
The remote control BB-8 app-enabled Droid from Sphero is one of the hottest Star Wars toys this season. You control BB-8 from your smartphone and it can do all sorts of fun things. It can even roam around on its own - using "The Force." The Sphero BB-8 is $199. &nbsp;

Ever lose your keys? Misplace a remote? The Tile will help you find it. It's a tiny electronic locator that you can attach to just about anything.&nbsp; 
Through the special Tile mobile app, you can hunt down your missing item using Bluetooth range-finding or even make the Tile sound an alarm. Prices for the Tile start at $25. 
Stop-motion animation is now super easy with StikBot. Using poseable figurines, the StikBot app lets anyone learn how to animate videos on a smartphone. Then with just a few clicks you can add in voices, music and sound effects.&nbsp; 
Uploads from the app are easy, so you can show off your hilarious videos on sites like YouTube and Instagram. The StikBot starter studio kit is $15.

Do you have a tech-lover on your holiday list? News 12's Andrew Ehinger checks out some of the hottest products out there guaranteed to score you points with your loved ones this season. 
To kick off this year's <a href="http://longisland.news12.com/features/holidays/the-download-hot-for-the-holidays-1.11062778">The Download: Hot for the Holidays</a>, we start with the JayBird X2 earbuds and Plantronics Backbeat Sense headphones. 
Music can keep you motivated while exercising, but only if your earbuds stay in your ears. The Jaybird X2 Wireless earbuds are tiny and sweat-proof. But they also have special ear-tips and stabilizing fins to keep them from falling out, even under the most extreme conditions.&nbsp; 
If you want to look great while enjoying some tunes, the Plantronics Backbeat Sense wireless headphones are a good choice. And with 18 hours of battery life, the music will never die.

Next up on the list is Edwin the Duck. Edwin is a high-tech duck for kids in the 3- to 5-year-old range. Edwin wirelessly connects to a smartphone or tablet to stream music from his waterproof speaker, and also has interactive games and storytelling to help educate your child. 
At the end of the day, Edwin's charging dock doubles as a night light. Edwin the Duck is $99. 
At No. 8 on the list, we looked at a smartphone case that doubles as a stylish purse. 
The Pursecase is a "Shark Tank" success story. Since the show they've added more styles, colors and even a cross-body chain. This makes it a great option for women who want to stay connected, but don't want to carry a separate purse. 
The case ranges from $15 to $30 depending on the smartphone.
