It’s Week Two of Girls on Fire and, despite getting limited chances to shine in the shortened schedule, some players still managed to put a little extra oomph into their performances.

It’s attack of the juniors…
Junior Courtney Fortunato had a career-high 10 goals and added two assists in Northport’s 22-8 win over Commack. A few days prior, she had seven goals and two assists in a 19-7 win over Smithtown West.
Junior Hannah Burnett had six goals and a career-high nine assists to lead Huntington in a 22-6 win over Greenport/Southold/Mattituck. While we’re here, let me shout out junior Alexis Thompson, who added a career-high seven goals in the same game. She added four assists.
And I do love to highlight some defense when I can. Check out this well-rounded performance by Kaileen Hart in Babylon’s 18-7 win over Glenn: three goals, one assist, three ground balls, and three forced turnovers.
