The Jets have chosen their kicker

Jason Sanders has won the Jets kicking job.
Special teams coach Chris Banjo said Tuesday the Jets are “moving on” from Cade York and Sanders will be the kicker.
“He has won the job,” Banjo said.
It was a close competition throughout training camp to replace Nick Folk, with neither player really standing out. Folk, who led the NFL in field goal percentage last season (96.6) and made all of his point-after attempts, signed a two-year, $9 million contract with Atlanta.
In the preseason, York was 3-for-4 on his field goal attempts and extra point tries. He missed a 59-yard field goal in Friday’s preseason loss. Sanders was 4-for-4 on field goals and point-after attempts.
Sanders also is the more accomplished kicker. He spent seven years as the Dolphins kicker and made First-team All-Pro in 2020. York has attempted 45 career field goals - and hit 33 - in parts of two seasons with the Browns, Commanders and Bengals.
“We feel really, really good about what Jason is and where we are with him right now,” Banjo said. “The experience he's kind of had in our division, kicking in our division. So I'm looking forward to that opportunity for him.
“You look at his pedigree, what he’s been able to do in big moments, big games in our division. You get to be around that kind of all offseason, throughout training camp and through this evaluation process and it starts to build more confidence, more conviction in who he is as a player so we’re really excited about that.”
