Both the Nassau and Suffolk county executives say they each want to lay off about 700 workers to address severe budget woes.
In Nassau, County Executive Edward Mangano said he will also seek to close museums and require all employees to contribute 25 percent to their health insurance.
And in Suffolk, County Executive Steve Levy, above, is calling for a shutdown of the county-run John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Facility.
Neither proposal calls for tax increases.
Do you agree with the layoff plans?
