KEY EVENT: Jobs and homes. A short week is long on important economic data, with an update on Long Island unemployment and a slew of housing-market reports.

MONDAY: U.S. financial markets closed for Memorial Day.

TUESDAY: Case-Shiller housing prices for March, new home sales for April from the Commerce Department and single-family home prices for March from the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Also, the Commerce Department posts April durable goods orders, an update on the production of long-lived, expensive items such as cars and home appliances.

WEDNESDAY: The state Labor Department releases April unemployment rates for Nassau, Suffolk and Long Island as whole. In March the Long Island jobless rate fell to 4.7 percent, a 2015 low. Earnings: Costco, Tiffany.

THURSDAY: The Google I/O conference kicks off in San Francisco, where the next version of the Android smartphone operating system is expected to be unveiled. Also, pending home sales for April from the National Association of Realtors and jobless benefits claims for the week ended May 24 from the U.S. Labor Department.

FRIDAY: The Commerce Department posts a revised estimate of first-quarter GDP. Also, consumer sentiment for May from the University of Michigan.
