Mantle homers from both sides

For the 10th time in his career, Mickey Mantle hit home runs from both sides of the plate. The switch-hitter went 3-for-4 with three runs in the Yankees' 7-3 home win over the White Sox. Batting lefty against starter Ray Herbert, Mantle, 32, led off the fourth inning with a longball. In the eighth inning, he hit a solo shot from the right side against lefty reliever Frank Baumann. His second homer gave the Yankees a 6-3 lead in support of rookie Mel Stottlemyre, who earned his first win with a complete game. That season was Mantle's last with a .300 average, 30+ homers and 100 RBIs, and that game was the last time he accomplished the ambidextrous feat. Mantle's 10 switch-hit homers was a record that stood until Eddie Murray broke it in 1994. Nick Swisher tied Mantle's mark in 2009.
