Gooden gets 200 Ks again
Dwight Gooden struck out 16 Giants in the Mets' 3-0 win at Shea Stadium to become the first pitcher with at least 200 strikeouts in each of his first two seasons. Gooden struck out Bob Brenly in the fourth inning to reach 200, his eighth strikeout of the game. Gooden won the Cy Young Award, going 24-4 with a 1.53 earned run average and 265 strikeouts.
