Pearson no-hits Cleveland
Yankees pitcher Monte Pearson becomes the first pitcher to throw a no-hitter in Yankee Stadium. The righthander faced only 27 batters, thanks to two double plays, beating the Indians, 13-0, for his 10th consecutive win. It gave the Yanks a doubleheader sweep of Cleveland (they won the opener, 8-7). Pearson ended the season with a record of 16-7. The Yankees won the AL pennant, and swept the Chicago Cubs for the World Series.
