Liberty loses inaugural WNBA title
The Liberty lost the first WNBA championship game, 65-51, against the host Houston Comets. Cynthia Cooper, the league's first MVP, scored 14 of her 25 points in the second half, when the Comets used a 10-0 run to put the Liberty away. Kym Hampton had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Vickie Johnson added 12 points in the loss.
