U.S. Wins Olympic Gold
Team USA rallied from a 2-1 third-period deficit and defeated Finland, 4-2, to win the gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Phil Verchota's goal tied the score at 2 and Rob McClanahan's goal gave Team USA the lead. Mark Johnson's score, a backhander, was the clincher. As the United States team left the Olympic Fieldhouse, with their first Olympic gold medal in 20 years.
