Allie Reynolds no-hits Indians

Yankees righthander Allie Reynolds pitched two no-hitters in 1951 but the first one almost ended before it started. After retiring home-team leadoff batter Dale Mitchell on a fly to left, Bobby Avila reached on an error by shortstop Phil Rizzuto that the Indians thought was a single. But it went into the books as an error. Gene Woodling homered for the Yanks in the seventh and Reynolds, who faced just 29 batters, struck out Avila for the final out. Reynolds repeated his gem on Sept. 28 against the Red Sox.
