Bryan Trottier scores 500th goal

The Hall of Famer scored his 500th career goal as the Islanders fell, 4-2, to the Calgary Flames before 15,011 at Nassau Coliseum. Trottier reached the milestone 9:57 into the second period off assists by Gary Nylund and Pat LaFontaine, which opened the game's scoring. Joe Nieuwendyk's two goals led the Flames' comeback. Trottier, 33, moved into a tie for 14th on the goal-scoring list and seventh with 1,348 points. He finished that season - his last as an Islander - with just 13 goals.
