Hull ties scoring mark against Rangers
Bobby Hull got his 50th goal, tying the NHL single-season record as the Chicago Blackhawks fell to the Rangers, 4-1, in the last game of the regular season at Madison Square Garden. The Hall of Famer scored off a pass from Reggie Fleming at 4:58 in the first period, equaling the record held by Maurice Richard and Bernie Geoffrion. Hull, who had five 50-goal seasons in the NHL, would break the record in March 1966, scoring his 51st of that season against the Rangers. In 1961-62, the left winger also led the league with 84 points. Some luster was removed from the milestone, though, as the Rangers rallied for three third-period goals.
