Grete Waitz wins last NYC Marathon
Grete Waitz of Norway won her ninth and final New York City Marathon in the 19th running of the event. Waitz clocked in at two hours, 28 minutes and seven seconds. She won nine times in 11 years. Waitz also won the London Marathon twice. The men's and overall winner was Steve Jones of Wales, who finished in 2:08:20, his only win in New York and his fourth marathon victory.
