Tino Martinez singled and scored during a seven-run eighth inning as the Yankees topped the Mariners, 7-1, in Game 2 of the 2000 ALCS. Derek Jeter homered and Jorge Posada and Jose Vizcaino each had run-scoring singles as the Yankees had eight hits in the inning and tied the series at 1-all. Martinez had three hits, and Jeter, Scott Brosius, and Chuck Knoblauch had two hits apiece in the win for the Yankees. Starting pitcher Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez struck out seven and scattered six hits over eight innings for the win. Seattle's Arthur Rhodes gave up three runs in just 1/3 of an inning and took the loss. The Yankees went on to win the series in six games, and eventually beat the Mets in the Subway Series.
