Joltin' Joe has a three-homer game
Joe DiMaggio blasted three home runs in the Yankees' 6-5 win over the Cleveland Indians. DiMaggio, who went 4-for-4 with six RBIs, hit his first two long balls off future Hall of Famer Bob Feller. He got the third in the eighth inning off reliever Bob Muncrief to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead. It was the second of DiMaggio's three career three-homer games. He first accomplished the feat in 1937 against the St. Louis Browns. DiMaggio, 33, finished the '48 season hitting .320 with 39 homers and a career-high 155 RBIs.
