Andre Dawson reaches milestone
Andre Dawson of the Chicago Cubs stole his 300th base in an 11-5 loss to the Mets at Wrigley Field to become the second player with 300 homers, 300 steals and 2,000 hits. Willie Mays was the other. Dawson walked in the first inning, stole second and scored on Derrick May's single. He batted .310 in 1990, a career high, and had 27 homers and 100 runs batted in. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer after a 21-year career with a .279 average, 438 homers, 2,774 hits and 314 stolen bases.
