George Kelly homers in sixth straight
With his two-run shot in the seventh inning of the Giants' 8-7 win over the Pirates at Forbes Field, George "High Pockets" Kelly became the first National League player to homer in six consecutive games. The Browns' Ken Williams had accomplished the feat in 1922. Kelly (2-for-5) connected for his 14th of the season off reliever Ray Kremer to give the Giants an 8-6 lead. The first baseman, whose streak started against the St. Louis Cardinals, homered seven times during the run, but it was snapped the following day with an 0-for-5. The Hall of Famer finished that season batting .324 with 21 homers and a league-high 136 RBIs.
